One of the highlights is undoubtedly the Kartoffel Mochis, a sophisticated dish blending creamy potatoes with baby spinach, borretane onions, shiitake mushrooms, and a touch of alpine Bergkäse cheese, priced at €18.00. Meat lovers will relish the expertly prepared Thunfisch Tataki, a tender seared tuna paired with green asparagus, crisp radishes, Thai basil, and toasted sesame seeds, a vibrant centerpiece at €26.00.
For those seeking something boldly different, the Blutwurst Gyoza with sauerkraut, apple, and roasted onions is a testament to Ciao Chang’s innovative approach to flavor fusion and comes in at €22.00. And don’t miss out on dessert — the Fried Milk Tea infused with matcha, cream, and Amarenakirsche cherries is a luscious and comforting finale at €9.00.
Guests consistently rave about the friendly, knowledgeable staff who go out of their way to explain the intricate offerings and make every visitor feel truly welcomed. Many recommend ordering plates to share, which enhances the social dining experience and allows for a delightful tasting journey, as echoed by repeat visitors like Ines L and Quentin Choulet.
The restaurant’s unique concept of a "Kind of Izakaya" is evident from the tapas-style servings and the genuine enthusiasm with which each dish is presented. Flavors are bold yet balanced, textures playfully contrasting between crisp and creamy, and every bite reveals the chef’s deep understanding of both Bavarian and Japanese culinary traditions.

We had a wonderful evening at Ciao Chang. The atmosphere and the interior is really cosy and the staff is very friendly and tries their best to explain the menu and to make you feel welcome. The food was perfect and we really enjoyed the Bavarian/Japanese fusion. Everything was fresh and we actually got to know something we never tried before. We can recommend everything but in particular the cauliflower, the spring roll, the baked chicken on potatoes as well as the tofu main dish and the aubergine. We will come back for sure :)

Amazing place! These are the first 2 words coming to me when I think of this restaurant. The decor is super beautiful and unique, the staff is friendly and approachable, and the food is divine. I loved crispy cauliflower and crispy tofu, they were full of flavour and, surprise surprise, super crispy. Broccoli with some peanut sauce was also amazing. I tried quite a lot of appetizers and all of them were amazing. The only thing I didn’t enjoy that much were desserts, especially chocolate mousse. It was too buttery and too less chocolatey for me. The rest was amazing

I've been 2 times to Ciao Chang. Their fusion dishes are original, well-prepared and very tasty. Certain starters (ex. cauliflower karaage) are a must-have. Cocktails are also a strong point - classics and original that positively surprised us. Staff is very friendly, took and fulfilled a 9-people order by memory only... Can only recommend. To book in advance.

The food and staff are the stars here. Each dish was prepared with care and combined a great blend of ingredients that complimented each other perfectly. The staff were friendly and attentive, we didn't have to wait long for anything, even considering there was a table with 15 people next to us. The portion sizes were quite small for the price. The acoustics of the restaurant made for a very loud atmosphere. All in all enjoyed this place, would go back for a special occasion!

We shared the Menu for 2 People and the food was fantastic. It took a bit time till we got the first course but it was worth the wait. Inside you have long tables for groups or smaller ones for couples. You can also sit at the bar. It's fairly booked out but I if you like fusion food it's worth the wait! Part of the menu is vegetarian!

This is a fairly unique Bavarian/Japanese crossover restaurant. It self describes as "Kind of Izakaya," and that is what they do, i.e., serve tapas. The ambience is cosy with a tasteful hint of something Asian. The seating is quite comfortable. The staff are stellar: Fast, approachable, helpful. Commendable. The food is excellent. We tried the starters and Yakitori, and we were not disappointed. Quite the contrary. Spicy, flavourful, and lots of Umami, as it should be. Several raw materials appear to be locally sourced, which is always nice. One of the best Asian restaurants we've tried in Munich, and we've tried quite a few in the last seven years.
